Attract a Market
“How Do I Go About Attracting a Market?”
From Mickey, a gent who writes that he’s new to NM
“Hi Kim,
“I’ve signed up a few people and my up-line is pretty cool. I would like to ask you, would you like to try My Great Product (MGP)? Do you know other people who would like MGP? There’s so much, I just can’t seem to get my head around it. I really want to share the opportunity and MGP is so good!” – Mickey, Nov 14, 2009
Mickey says he really wants “to share the opportunity.” His product is a type of healthy chocolate. Alright then. Since he wants to ’share the opp’ he’s gotta start looking for people who want an opportunity to sell healthy chocolate. So his audience, basically is:
- People who think it’s cool (for whatever reason) to be in an mlm opportunity focused on healthy chocolate.
How is he going to find such peeps, outside of his immediate warm market? Two suggestions:
Online:
1. If Mickey has no money, one way is article marketing. Write some good content, either about how unusual the opp is (something other than the usual noise of ‘this is the best deal out there’ etc.) or, good content about the product. What about it is healthy, why he likes it, etc. In other words, some good, killer content about either the product or the business. That can go on his own blog (free ones at Blogger, Word Press, etc.) or article directories. All free. Takes time and effort, but it’s a no-money way to get your product and business known online. Key: GOOD content. As Quentin Tarantino would say, kick-ass content. Skip the usual noise most MLMers create and Mickey will get noticed.
2. If Mickey has money, Google’s Adwords are a good way to go. The key is good content on the page where the person who clicks the ad, lands. No noise. Good content. To get ads clicked on, well that also requires good content. And of course, NO INCOME claims lest the FTC fine you $11,000.
How to create good content.
1) Learn the basics of your business and product. Learn to use conversational language a 13-year old could understand when you talk about it.
2) Learn to tell your story – WHY you decided to do this, and who you are. This a) makes you unique and different and 2) attracts people like you to you. I show you how to do this for recruiting partners with the Art of Recruiting program here, and I will offer an advanced class soon for those who have those basics down. So that you can create your own killer content.

Ray Charles and Johnny Cash
Did you know that’s is exactly the sequence that happened to Ray Charles and Johnny Cash? Each gent FIRST got song singing down. They loved to sing. They could each copy all the top singers of their day.
Next, each went to a studio looking for a recording contract, based on that ability.
But nothing happened for either one. Not until each was asked, by studio executives, to sing “their own music – what came from inside of THEM.” Each one found that and performed again. That is, they sang what was uniquely theirs. They owned it. That is when their careers took off.
It’s the same for Mickey and you. I can teach you the basics with the Art of Recruiting (assuming you have your business plan down and know the product well enough to talk about your own experience with it). Then, you learn to sing your own song, ignore everyone, and get noticed.
