My $25,000 Elevator Order
Years ago, I got a $25,000 product order from a gent I met on the elevator. He decided to do it between the first and 14th floor…
I had just gotten on the elevator on the first floor with two friends (both of whom remember that incident to this day). Anyway, this gent got on after me.
I think the three of us were talking about the business and he showed interest. We then chatted all the way up to 14, several stops included.
By the time we got to 14th floor, he came with me to my office, and he was so intrigued with the business I was doing he ordered that much in product on his credit cards. He came with me to the national convention the next month.
That is obviously VERY rare. I don’t think anyone in the company did anything like that quite so fast. You might not do that, either.
But I’ll tell you what, knowing what to say changes EVERYTHING. Using the right words does three things:
1. You stop turning people off.
2. Listeners treat you like a normal business person.
3. They often remember you, and give you referrals.
